What paint is good to use on guitars?
I have a noise level and would like to customize it with an image of my own creation. But First I have to sketch on it to get the image in its place, but the varnish probably wouldnt allow pencil. Any ideas on what I have to use? Be oils would take a long time to dry and, secondly, that seems a little too dirty. Acrylic can look flat and chips.
If the wood is unfinished, you can use charcoal for undersketch and almost all water-based paint for artwork. Acrylic may seem very bold and vibrant when applied with skill and care. Do not dilute the paint too much, or wood to twist and distort the sound of the guitar. Alternatively, you could use a polyurethane-based dye, which does not damage the wood. Without But the finished work would be quite moderate in tone. Maybe colored lacquer would do better, though it would be very difficult to get a three dimensional appearance the finished work of art. If the wood is varnished, the first thing you have to do is get a solvent to remove the finish. Part of the point of varnish is to prevent trademark stick to the surface, and you can be sure it has the painting as a brand. Whatever your use, be sure to put a good coat of varnish on the end, or actually image chip.
